Welcome Summer 2011

Welcome to our Summer 2011 version of Internet Studies. This course provides an introduction to the culture, politics, and history of digital media and the internet. The course will look at some of the history of digital media through an interdisciplinary investigation of some of the social, political, cultural, psychological, economic, and legal implications of the internet. It will also provide an opportunity for you to hone your critical reading skills in the context of the Internet as well as learn some of the technical and editorial skills needed to publish online. This class fulfills requirements for the IDS Internet Studies major concentration and minor. There are no prerequisites.

The formal grading requirements are as follows:
    Class Participation and Blog 25%
    Two Web Writing Assignments 25% each
    Final Web Project and Presentation 25%

Your first assignment for this class is to create a Blog. Give it a creative title. Make it look however you like. And leave a comment below with a link to your new blog. Do this by 10:00 am tomorrow, T 5/24.
